Default Title
Coat of Arms

The Board of Cypress Heights Academy is proud to present the school Coat of Arms as displayed at the top of this page. Much work and effort went into designing this emblem which is rich in symbolism for our school.

The shield is divided into thirds to honor the Blessed Trinity.

The Louisiana Bald Cypress tree is a symbol for both our state and our school; it stands for endurance and is a heraldic symbol for eternity. The bald cypress tree, which is native to Louisiana, is known for its longevity and for the many knees often found surrounding it. In a swamp environment, the cypress tree can grow haphazardly but when cultivated in the ground, the it grows very symmetrically. Likewise, CHA students formed intellectually, humanly, spiritually and apostolically will in turn form others as they grow and become leaders for Christ and for society. It is illuminated by light from Our Lord in the Eucharistic Host which appears to be the sun (many of our parents and friends enjoy going to Perpetual Adoration).

The bronze lamp resting on the books is a symbol of knowledge and the flame symbolizes wisdom which comes from God. The book includes the Bible and it is often said that the green book represents the Cathechism of the Catholic Church.

The crowned and flaming heart symbolizes both Christ's royalty and Divine love. The crown is an ancient crown with a fleur-de-lis motif to represent the Reign of Christ our King. The heart is on fire and reminds us of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which burns with love for man.

The school motto Cor Unum is Latin for "One Heart". The heart and center of our school is Christ, whose Divine love and Charity are the support both on the shield and in reality for our school and the knowledge we provide.
