Academic Vision and Plan

In an effort to establish an environment in which students will be completely formed, Cypress Heights Academy adheres to a classical, Catholic liberal arts curriculum. Students in each grade study language arts (including reading, writing, and literature), history and geography, science, mathematics, a foreign language (Spanish and Latin), and religion as well as participating in organized physical activity. These disciplines are supplemented frequently by enhancement activities. Each subject is integrated with all others so that as students grow, they come to appreciate the fullness of God’s gifts by which each person becomes a particular reflection of His overall plan for humanity. At Cypress Heights Academy, an atmosphere of genuine love for education gives students an eagerness to learn and a real love of wisdom. Parents and teachers play a primary role in encouraging this development. Cypress Heights Academy fosters continuing spiritual, intellectual, human and apostolic formation by sponsoring throughout the year, enhancement activities that provide families the opportunity to participate directly in the education of their children.

The courses at Cypress Heights Academy are academically accelerated and include the use of the SRA Imagine It! program, Language Arts, Catholic Religion, Math, Science, World, US and State History, Geography and Physical Education. In addition to these regular courses in grades Kindergarten through eighth grades, Cypress Heights offers a structured Pre-Kindergarten program utilizing techniques of the Montessori method, along with enhancement courses in Art, Art History, Spanish and Latin. Courses are supplemented by a Gospel Reflection each morning along with presentation of the Saint of the Day, as well as regular prayer - three times daily.

Cypress Heights encourages regular participation in the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confession; offering opportunities for Mass and Confession when possible. The children attend monthly Mass and the children participate in the celebration of the Pope, Our Holy Father’s birthday, observance of May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary and celebration of All Saint’s Day and other Holy Day’s of Obligation and feast days.
