Qualified Faculty and Staff
  • All faculty and staff have the opportunity to attend an annual training with other schools of excellence sponsored by the National Consultants for Education, where the staff learns to implement the four areas of formation into the student’s daily routine.
  • All faculty meet Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) requirements.

Academic Excellence

How are we doing academically?
  • Students at Cypress Heights have scored extremely well on the nationally recognized Stanford 10 Achievement Test (SAT 10) and are continuing to improve.
  • Certain grades have averaged as high as 87th percentile, which is 37 percentile points higher than the national average. 50th percentile is the average student's score in the nation.
  • In 2009-10 school year, students at Cypress Heights academic success rate increased from the previous year with: 3 grades scoring in the mid to upper 80th percentile (one of those grades scored in the 87th percentile - top 13% of the nation); 3 grades scoring in the upper 75th percentile (one of which scored in the 79th percentile)and only one (1) grade scoring in the 65th percentile.
Personal Attention is Key
In addition to the Principal, other formators meet with the students and/or teachers on a regular basis to discuss the Human, Spiritual, Academic and Apostolic Formation of each child.

  • Formators and Principal observe classes.

  • Small class sizes are maintained to allow time for teachers to personalize instruction to better meet and challenge each students' talents and abilities.

Unique Curriculum Programs
  • SRA Imagine It! is a fundamental language arts program for our students to learn to read, write and spell. SRA Imagine IT! is a fundamental language arts program used in kindergarten through grade 5. It is phonetically based, and teaches all elements of language arts: phonemic awareness, spelling, reading comprehension, reading fluency, grammar and writing.
  • Webster Writing Method is a comprehensive system for mastering writing skills. The principles of the Webster Writing Method are introduced in 3rd grade and developed through 8th grade.
  • Saxon Math contains an incremental approach where topics are never dropped but are instead increased in complexity and practiced everyday.
Foreign Languages
  • Spanish is taught in grades Pre K-8th using a multi-sensory approach. The children are exposed to the culture of the Spanish speaking countries through music, food, games and traditions.
A Proven Model
  • Cypress Heights utilizes the services of the National Consultants for Education (NCE). NCE is affiliated with the Legionaries of Christ, a religious congregation of Catholic Priests, founded in 1941. Today the Legion has over 700 priests and close to 2,500 major and minor seminarians, with houses in 18 countries.
  • The Legionaries of Christ operate over 22 universities and centers for higher studies and over 170 schools in 14 countries around the world. Cypress Heights is modeled after these schools located in Europe, North, Central & South America, which implement the Integral Formation® method of education as developed by the Legionaries of Christ.
